March 1 to March 15, 1959

Sunday, March 1, 1959: I felt fine today. The children went to Sunday School. Then Mr. and Mrs. Bjorgen picked up Cindy and Cathy and took them out to their place.

Jim and Joe collected papers for Boy Scouts, then went out to Bjorgens. They stayed for dinner and all came home at 7:40.

She had a nice dinner for them and gave Jim some oysters. All went for a boat ride.

Monday, March 2, 1959: Cindy and I went over to Jim's mother's to pick up Cathy's gift, a dress.

Tuesday, March 3, 1959: Cathy went to Play School. At 1, Marion, Claudia , the Bell kids and Cary Jacobsen came to Cathy's birthday party. It was a beautiful day so they played outside. They rode bikes and played climbing up the ladder to the roof of the doghouse and then jumping off. This is the nicest party we have had, so quiet and happy. Mom and Dad drove in.

Wednesday, March 4, 1959: Mother and Dad gave Cathy a purse and gloves for her birthday, the Bell kids pedal pushers, and she received other toys.

Thursday, March 5, 1959: Cindy went to violin lesson, brought home a report card from Mrs. Bichon with all A's. Joe and Cindy went to a neighbors with their stamp albums. Mrs. Selber. She helps them by putting in stamps for them.

Friday, March 6, 1959: Cindy's [class] room went to telegraph office. Then we all drove out to Wollochet.

Saturday, March 7, 1959: Took Cindy to Dr. Cameron, eye doctor in Tacoma. He is so nice. He said Cindy's eyes are better and adequate for her life's work. He said she has grown so much. She is no longer a little girl.

We bought Joe some dress pants and a belt, shirt and socks for Easter. We also bought Cathy a Whisk-Off Screen like Miss Eileen on TV has.

$4 for eye checkup.

Sunday, March 8, 1959: Kim met Cindy at skating rink and came home with her.

Monday, March 9, 1959: Joe had Patrol Meeting after school as Jim must go to the Scoutmaster's tonight. The boys gathered poles from the woods for a raft. We brought Pepper [dog] home Sunday as the folks left Sunday for Angeles. Cindy went to ensemble.

Tuesday, March 10, 1959: Mrs. Haddon called to ask me to come after Cathy at Play School, as she thought that she was sick. Cathy was very upset.

Wednesday, March 11, 1959: Joe stood on a street corner for three hours to note down errors people made in driving, etc. This for a Boy Scout merit badge. Sherry came to play with the girls. Mother and Dad and Aunt Glad stopped by on their way home.

Thursday, March 12, 1959: Joe rode bike to David's. They had wonderful time. All went to Paulson's for lunch and threw mud balls at each other. Came home tired and dirty but happy.

Friday, March 13, 1959: The girls played together so nicely today. It hailed part of the day. Joe worked on his stamps, then played ball with Bob Dunner and others. Cindy prepared lunch -- daffodils, napkins and a good lunch.

Saturday, March 14, 1959: ...Cathy has tonsillitis again ... Joe had giggly patrol meeting with Buddy, Dick and Eddie.

Sunday, March 15, 1959: Harold Bowen brought his two little girls over at 9. They went to Sunday School with ours then all went roller skating. All had a wonderful time.
