February 11-28, 1959

February 11: Walter came over after school and he and Cathy played snowball. They were so cute as neither came near the other. Cindy went to Bluebirds at Rhonda's. Joe played at Bruce's. Jim helped Mr. Gauthier until 1:30 a.m.

February 12: Mother and Dad came in. We bought groceries, valentines, lunch at Woolworth's, etc. Still snow on grass. Mom, Dad, Jim and Joe went to Court of Honor. The Scoutmaster said so many nice things about Joe. Joe got two merit badges, 1st Class, Leader trainer patch.

February 13: Dad took Cathy to school on his way home to Gig Harbor. Then she went to play at Claudia's, where she had a wonderful time. I took Cindy to violin and picked up Mother Reid. She stayed for dinner and spent the evening. I got up an hour early to sew Joe's badges on so he could wear his uniform to school as it is Boy Scout Week. He looks so cute. The children got valentines at School. Cindy played a solo for her room.

February 14: Sherry came over in A.M. to play with Cindy. Joe and Jim went to Scoutmasters to talk about coming hike. In evening we all went to Flints, Cathy having taken two hours nap in preparation. Children all played together nicely as usual. We stayed until 11:30. They gave us a flash camera for Jim's having have helped them [move?] so much.

February 15: Cindy and Cathy went to roller skating lesson. Jim took Joe in car to collect paper for Scout paper drive then we all worked tying and weighing them. Joe has 498 lbs.

February 16: Joe had patrol meeting. We steamed Cathy's room all night as she has cough. She didn't cough all night, consequently.

February 17: Mom and Dad came in for Mrs. Steinsager's funeral. Naomi came home with Cindy after school.

February 18: Dad and I went to Court house to record deed for little house and pay taxes, $32.00. In p.m. Cathy and I went to visit Shirley and Linda Bowen. The girls had fine time and I was hoarse after nice visit with Shirley.

February 19: I cleaned house, then Mom and Dad came in. They stayed with children at night while Jim and I went to Penny Reid's wedding, held at home of Mrs. Haynes, future mother [in-law?] of Tammy. Penny married 19 year old boy who is moving to L.A. with his parents tomorrow. Jim sang "Always" and "Lord's Prayer." Higbee officiated as Bishop. Higbee's daughter played violin solo. Tammy did most of the work for the wedding.

February 21: Saw Joe off on trip to Hurricane Ridge with Boy Scouts, then the rest of us went out to Wollochet Bay. The girls played with dolls all afternoon, sewing and ironing doll clothes.

February 22: I stayed abed today as I coughed most of the night. Jim took the girls to Bremerton to Sunday School and then roller skating. Then he picked up Joe at 6:30 p.m. at Scoutmasters and brought all back to Wollochet. Joe had wonderful time sliding down hill on inner tubes. He lost his compass , pocket knife and eating utensils.

February 23: Mr. Gauthier brought Joe's compass and knife over. Joe owed me 52 cents so he gave me 42 cents then sat down and pulled a tooth to pay for the other dime. (We give the children 10 cents for every baby tooth lost. When little we put under their pillows. I say they are from fairy. We left Cathy with grandparents Sands.

February 26: The folks brought Cathy in. She was so happy to see me. She walked in just as I was watching "Day in Court" which for some reason upsets her. I never watch it when she is here. So I turned it off.

February 27: I got new shoes for Cathy's coming birthday.

February 28: Cindy's best school friend, Naomi, invited her over so they met at Westpark School and walked from there to Naomi's.
